“Do as I say, don’t do as I do!”
I’m reminded of this every time I finish up a client meeting by asking: “Now that you have updated your Will, have you put that Lasting Power of Attorney in place?” This should be an essential protection for anyone running their own business who could, at any time through illness or accident, become incapable of managing their own affairs either temporarily or permanently.
It’s simple and inexpensive compared with the alternatives. But, despite my great advice, I still haven’t done it myself! Maybe, by coming out, peer pressure will force me to mend my ways. Watch this space!
