We owe our existence to Brendan Magee F.C.A. and share his vision that companies need a new style of accountancy in the new millennium.
Brendan's wide experience of the different aspects of the accountancy profession have made him very much aware of just how much small and medium sized businesses need to call upon a wide range of skills from their financial partners which go far beyond the narrow confines of a traditional accountancy practice. He realised that, by linking together a group of independent professionals, the large overheads carried by accountancy firms could be avoided and these savings could then be passed on to clients. At the same time, the wide knowledge and rich experience of such a team would be readily available from one source. Although Brendan created the James Magee team in this new mould, his experience of traditional accountancy is considerable: In 1992 he founded Magee Gammon - a conventional accountancy practice based in Ashford, Kent. He retired from Magee Gammon in order to concentrate on the work he finds most interesting and rewarding - acting as formal or surrogate part-time Finance Director for a range of individual companies including GMJ Design Ltd and One-Stop Support Ltd as well as Internal Audit Services Ltd. Brendan has been a Director of Next Fifteen Communications Group plc since 1991. In 1997, as their part-time Finance Director, he took a major role in taking this company (then called TEXT 100 PLC) onto OFEX and remained on the Board as a Non-Executive Director while this company became one of the resounding success stories of that market. In 1999, when it had changed its name to OneMonday Group plc, it successfully graduated to a listing on the full London Stock Exchange. Brendan greatly enjoyed playing a strategic role in the well publicised sale of the OneMonday name to PWC in July 2002.
